Tanya Paris is the founder of Sparking Creativity, an award-winning educator, literacy specialist, and author dedicated to helping children become confident readers.

With extensive experience in early childhood education, literacy instruction, and intervention, Tanya has worked closely with students at all stages of reading development. Her work has been recognized through honors such as Teacher of the Year, reflecting her commitment to excellence in education.

A Personal Journey in Literacy

Tanya’s passion for literacy is deeply rooted in her own experiences and her work with children in the classroom.

As an educator and a proud Dominican woman, she understands the importance of representation, language, and culturally responsive teaching. She has seen firsthand how meaningful, effective reading instruction can transform a child’s confidence and open doors to future success.

Through years of teaching and tutoring developing readers, Tanya recognized a critical need for resources that truly support how children learn to read.

Turning Experience into Resources

That realization led to the creation of Sparking Creativity.

Tanya began developing decodable books and instructional materials designed to align with the Science of Reading and support students in building strong decoding skills.

As her work grew, she collaborated with a team of educators—including literacy specialists, special education teachers, and bilingual educators—to ensure each resource reflects a wide range of classroom expertise and meets the needs of diverse learners.

Her resources are now used by educators and families to provide structured, effective reading instruction that moves beyond guessing strategies and toward true literacy development.
