Frequently Asked Questions
What are decodable books and how are they different from leveled readers?
Decodable books use only the phonics patterns a student has already been taught, so every word can be sounded out. Leveled readers rely on picture clues, memorization, and guessing — decodable books build real decoding skills instead.
What age or grade level are these books for?
Our books are designed for kindergarten through 2nd grade, typically ages 5–8. They're also widely used in reading intervention with older students who need to strengthen foundational phonics skills.
Do I need a phonics program to use these?
No — our books are organized by phonics skill level so you can pick up wherever your student is. They work alongside any structured literacy or Science of Reading–aligned program, or on their own.
Are the Spanish books translations or written originally in Spanish?
Our Spanish decodable books are written originally in Spanish, following a systematic phonics progression aligned to Spanish syllable structure. They are not translations of the English books.

from 57 reviewsThis is a great kit! We are using it in our dual language program. I love that we can get additional single copies to create sets for our small group instruction.
This is a nice little set for helping kids learn to read in Spanish, especially once they have a foundation in Spanish phonics. This is Module 4 of the 4-part series, so it works best as a later step after working through the earlier modules. The books give kids an opportunity to practice reading independently while building fluency and comprehension.I like that the set includes multiple books, giving children plenty of reading material to practice with as their skills develop. Once a child has worked through the earlier levels and is ready for more independent Spanish reading, this makes a great addition to a home learning or homeschool library.
Perfecto para nuestro programa pre-escolar. Los libritos son de muy buena calidad. Tambien estamos usando el modulo 2 con el salon de kinder.
Our preschoolers love them! the real photos are so nice for our little ones. I love the one word per page setup. It is perfect for helping them stay focused on what a letter is and what a whole word is without getting overwhelmed.
This is a great book! My first grade (6 year old) granddaughter loves it! She is also learning how to pronounce and accentuate well.
I'm using this set with my pre-k daughter to learn and practice early reading skills. It comes with 10 simple readers as well as a journal and some colorful pointers for the student to wear on their pointer finger while tracking with each letter and word.
The books are well made with a sturdy paperback cover, large text size, and colorful pictures. I also like how the back of each book has parent/teacher guidance with how to use the book to help the kid to read and to understand each story. The journal has a couple pages dedicated to each story with a prompt that interacts with the story: writing down new words, drawing a picture of part of the story, sharing a favorite part, and so forth. Some of the books are really basic with just one word or a couple words per page, while about three of them have sentences that are a little more advanced, but build on the same reading skills. They also all use repetition, which is helpful.
This set is just at my daughter's level and she's excited about the fun finger pointers, which we'll have to use with our other books now too. The first couple stories we read together built her confidence since she was able to guess the words she didn't know based on the pictures and then we could practice sounding them out together one letter at a time. I'm happy with this set and think the value is great for lots of books plus the bonus journal and pointers!
These decodable readers are a fantastic resource for young children learning to read. The stories are engaging, and the words are carefully matched to developing phonics skills, making it easier for kids to practice segmenting and blending sounds successfully. The progression feels natural, allowing children to build confidence with each book without becoming overwhelmed. The illustrations are colorful and appealing, helping keep young readers interested while they focus on decoding the text. These books are great for parents, teachers, or homeschool families looking for structured phonics practice. If you're helping a child ages 4–7 become a confident reader, this set is an excellent addition to your learning library.
I bought this for my niece who didn't enjoy reading. Once we started playing these games together, she never wanted to stop playing! It has helped her skills and build a joy of reading
I got this Growing Readers kit for my 3 year old because I’m still torn between homeschooling and traditional school, but either way I figured there was absolutely no downside to starting to build his phonics and letter sound skills at home.
I am genuinely impressed with how complete this system is. It includes a teaching manual that gives me direction instead of leaving me to figure out how to use everything on my own, along with 26 vibrant books covering each letter of the alphabet, a reading journal and hands on learning activities. It really gives you the tools you need to sit down with your child and teach with a purpose.
What matters most to me is that I can already see a difference in my son. He is becoming much more aware of letters and sounds and his recognition has noticeably improved. At three, I want learning to stay enjoyable and engaging rather than feel like work, and this has been wonderful for that.
Whether we ultimately homeschool or not, I am very happy to have this as part of his early education. It is organized, engaging and gives me confidence that I’m helping him build a strong foundation for reading.
I haven't used them yet, but I love the small boxes and skill sets. I think they will be great to use with small groups.
These books are amazing! I use them in my classroom in small group instruction and for independent reading. These decodables are great for supporting segmenting and blending, and they help to boost the confidence of young readers. Kids love them!
This is a fun and helpful book for learning letters and sounds. It’s simple, engaging, and perfect for kids learning phonics.
Such a sweet and simple book. My kids really enjoyed the activities, and it’s a great way to practice the letters and sounds in Spanish. Perfect for kids.
A great book for kids. I am teaching my child how to read in Spanish.
Easy check out process, quick shipping and even better products. Love these books so much!
