Frequently Asked Questions
What are decodable books and how are they different from leveled readers?
Decodable books use only the phonics patterns a student has already been taught, so every word can be sounded out. Leveled readers rely on picture clues, memorization, and guessing — decodable books build real decoding skills instead.
What age or grade level are these books for?
Our books are designed for kindergarten through 2nd grade, typically ages 5–8. They're also widely used in reading intervention with older students who need to strengthen foundational phonics skills.
Do I need a phonics program to use these?
No — our books are organized by phonics skill level so you can pick up wherever your student is. They work alongside any structured literacy or Science of Reading–aligned program, or on their own.
Are the Spanish books translations or written originally in Spanish?
Our Spanish decodable books are written originally in Spanish, following a systematic phonics progression aligned to Spanish syllable structure. They are not translations of the English books.

from 41 reviewsThis is a fun and helpful book for learning letters and sounds. It’s simple, engaging, and perfect for kids learning phonics.
Such a sweet and simple book. My kids really enjoyed the activities, and it’s a great way to practice the letters and sounds in Spanish. Perfect for kids.
A great book for kids. I am teaching my child how to read in Spanish.
Easy check out process, quick shipping and even better products. Love these books so much!
I am so excited that I bought the package! I was eyeing a few of these books to use during my read aloud time. I decided I would grab the whole package because I had a feeling that after ordering the first two, I would want to rest. I’m glad I went with my hunch because every book in the package is totally worth it. These books have wonderful stories, vocabulary, plots, and illustrations. Each story has sparked deep reading comprehension discussion amongst my class. Fingers crossed the author is working on another book. I’d love to have more!
These decodable books are wonderful! My kindergarteners love them. There is great variety, and the books are both engaging and accessible. Highly recommend to other early childhood educators!
This book is a beautiful collection of short poems that tell stories of discovery and adventures, and my son loves to read it over and over again. The illustrations are wonderfully done in bright colors, so it's an excellent book to introduce short poems to your kids.

It was so empowering to share this book with my daughter. Loved the lyrical poems. Loved the message of loving all parts of ourselves especially what makes us different.

Such a touching book. Tanya Paris clearly understands children and how to talk with them about difficult subjects. This book will help anyone trying to open communication with children about loss and coping.
This book touches my heart as well as anyone who lost a loved one. While the ages for this book say 4-12, the words, pictures and beauty make your grief easier, and love for the one you lost, fills your heart at any age.
