Reviews
Praise for Just a Memory Away:
“Just a Memory Away evokes a sweet and loving memory of a Papi who died too soon for the central character in this story. The ability to connect with memories, to recall a touch, a kiss, a feeling of being loved is woven beautifully throughout the text and illustrations. Memories are powerful in propelling this young girl to move forward in life with resilience and the courage to embrace new experiences as she finds her way in the world.
“Of special note is the author’s use of print in creative ways that support early literacy and important vocabulary. This adds to the inviting and always beautiful illustrations.”
–Vicki C. Milstein, Director of Curriculum and Instruction Martin Trust Partnership in Education for Early Learners, Brookline, MA
“This is such a sweet depiction of childhood resilience even after a significant loss of a parent. The memories that carry her through the day and night, and the suggestion that will carry her throughout the days to come, is a hopeful message. At Wildflower, we hope that every grieving child receives the care and support they need to thrive while living with grief.”

This book is a beautiful collection of short poems that tell stories of discovery and adventures, and my son loves to read it over and over again. The illustrations are wonderfully done in bright colors, so it's an excellent book to introduce short poems to your kids.
It was so empowering to share this book with my daughter. Loved the lyrical poems. Loved the message of loving all parts of ourselves especially what makes us different.
This book touches my heart as well as anyone who lost a loved one. While the ages for this book say 4-12, the words, pictures and beauty make your grief easier, and love for the one you lost, fills your heart at any age.
Such a touching book. Tanya Paris clearly understands children and how to talk with them about difficult subjects. This book will help anyone trying to open communication with children about loss and coping.
This is a wonderful book! Tanya Montas Paris is an incredible author who has beautifully captured holding the memories of a lost loved one close. This book is a perfect way to discuss the feelings after lost. The illustrations by Vanessa Balleza are absolutely stunning!
