This book is a beautiful collection of short poems that tell stories of discovery and adventures, and my son loves to read it over and over again. The illustrations are wonderfully done in bright colors, so it's an excellent book to introduce short poems to your kids.

I think this book was written for me and my daughter. It is just perfect for us, and I love knowing she can see herself in a book. She is in school in a predominantly white institution and her hair texture is a topic that always comes up. When we read this book we feel proud, accepted and loved for our differences and beauty. It is such a delight to read.

Our 9yo daughter loves this book of poetry! Although she has dyslexia and struggles with reading, she happily read this to us and commented several times that she loves this book. There was a good balance between text and illustration, and the text was at her "just right" level. She also connected with the content (flowers, wishpuffs, birthday, gymnastics, etc.), and said she really liked that the girls in the illustrations have brown skin like her. I also love that the poems and illustrations celebrate the beauty of her brown skin and thick, curly hair.

I love reading children's poetry. The author did a wonderful job and the illustrations are so well done. Will definitely recommend. Representation matters so much and the fact that the characters are children of color bring even more value to this collection of poetry.
